The following topics will be treated in a dialogical and interactive method: what is language teaching? Theories of Language Teaching (glottodidattica). Approach, methods, techniques. Competences in foreign language. Skills. Learning context. Teaching objectives. Teaching materials. Needs. Linguistic biography. Intercultural approach. European Reference Framework for Language Learning Portfolio. New technologies.
The course is based upon active participation of students. Before treating the general topics of learning and teaching of foreign languages, the experiences of participants in this regard will be the starting point, using the instrument of linguistic biography. On the basis of discussions and experiences the different methods and approaches will be illustrated and analysed, referring to the underlying principal theories as well as to the different theories which characterize the sector of Language Teaching.
Furthermore, the following concepts will be discussed: competence in foreign language, linguistic skills, needs of the learner, learning context, objectives and choice of teaching materials.
The second part of the course, more applicative, will address the recent trends in learning and teaching foreign languages, in particular by focusing on:
• the intercultural approach
• the European reference framework
• the portfolio and on
• new technologies.
The teaching modalities of the course foresee an active participation of the students, with a seminarial approach, work in couples and group work, and a reflection on the own path of learning and acquisition of foreign and second languages.
Modul B
The following topics will be treated in a dialogical and interactive method: what is Educational Linguistics? How to organize a linguistic curriculum? How to evaluate the competencies? What kind of techniques can be used for the different learning paths? The CLIL learning paths.
